TNT Dental

“Karen Smith worked as a freelance dental writer for TNT Dental for about two years. During that time, she completed full texts for many search engine optimized websites, as well as marketing pages, informational articles, and biographies. TNT Dental would be happy to work with Karen again in the future, and I will personally recommend her abilities as a freelance medical/dental writer for web purposes.”

Franklin-Spirko Marketing

“When  Franklin-Spirko’s executive team  decided they  wanted to write a book, as a  marketing person and  former reporter, I knew that  I needed help with  an experienced book editor to  get the job  done…and get it done right  Writing  copy is one  thing, but getting it ready for a  publisher, is  another thing. That’s when I turned  to Karen. And  did she whip it into shape  Now the  book is ready  to be published and promoted. Additionally, we have used Karen for various copywriting projects, including press releases and book promotions for Trump University.”  –Deborah Decker,  Public Relations Director,  Franklin-Spirko  Marketing, March 27, 2008

Patrick Astre, Novelist

Karen Mitchell Smith edited three novels for me between 2004 and 2006. I found her to be professional, easy to work with and astute. Karen was respectful of my writer’s voice and helped me maintain that voice through all edits and changes. With my second novel, The Artifact, I won the Salvo Press Mystery Book of the Year, and with my third novel I procured an agent. Karen’s contributions to my work figured greatly in these accomplishments. I highly recommend Karen’s services and would gladly work with her again. –Patrick Astre, author of It’s Not Your Parent’s Retirement, novelist, public speaker, financial planner

Apex Learning

Apex Learning is a creator and provider of educational content for high school students. I contracted Karen Mitchell Smith for our Spanish language courses. She bravely took on the most difficult task we have at Apex: the pedagogy editing on all Spanish documents before they are turned into interactive, web-based media used by students on the internet. The job of pedagogy proofer is a very complicated one and requires extremely high attention to detail as well as the ability to work with a document, looking for multiple issues at once. The pedagogy proofer is responsible for format and layout; for checking to make sure the material covered is accurate, relevant and sound; and she must determine what needs to be re-written. She assisted us in helping our writers to make those changes, then checked each quiz, test and exam for appropriateness.

In addition to her job as a pedagogy proofer, Ms. Smith was simulataneously employed as an English languag copy editor, adding another layer of responsibility to her task of preparing dozens of unique Spanish instructional documents for publication in a very short period of time. Normally this type of work would take a protracted period of time to complete; however, Ms. Smith was aware of our tight publishing deadlines and finished her work before due date. Because of her level of professionalism, her adaptibility and overall strength of character, I wholeheartedly recommend her for any project.    —Lisa A Frumkes, Ph.D.
