The story was right on. I knew and loved an old Texas cowboy that I met in his twilight years. He told me stories not unlike this one. Bill was missing one thing and it was a thing that I owned at the time and I gave it to him. It was a four star Stetson, that another younger cowboy had given me at Calgary when I competed in barrel there. I had never seen a cowboy tear up and all I could do was say, "You wanna go have a cool one?" I will never forget William Percival Griffin. He was one of that special breed of real cowboys.

I've read this article before and love it. The American Cowboy definitely portrays a spirt of ruggedness and freedom and honor that some people just don't get. We still have cowboys who ride cows out here - saw several following a herd in on my way to school a couple of mornings ago. It was quite a sight.
